Notes
a. Note:   n which she lived. She was a talented artist, and left many beautiful pictures as proof of her skill. After the death of her husband she moved from Hastings to Arnold, Nebraska. There she was close to two of her sons, Oliver, and Marmaduke (Duke), and their families.
She opened her home to classes of young people who were interested in painting. Her hospitality, her absolute belief in the Divine Master (she was member of the Christian Science Church), and her insatiable desire to improve herself and her surroundings were only a few of the things which made her an inspiration to those who knew her. (from her obituary in the Arnold < Nebraska, newspaper.
It should be added that some, at least, of her grand children remember her as a stern-and stubborn-woman!
Note:   Harriet had attended college, and taught school in Tabor, Iowa. She was a Woman of education, culture, and refinement and always gave freely of her time and talents in the interest of the community i
