Note: Christian Name: My mother did not care for her first name (Mary) and was always called Helen. Her-father called her Nel as I recall. Mother's Family Ditty: Little Tommy Tucker, Dauphin Man Sailed down the river in a frying pan The pan upset and he got wet And he's down there wringing out his shirttail yet. Crafts/Hobbies: Mother was an accomplished in Needle Work, Knitting, Crocheting & Sewing. During one phase of her working life she was the Singer Sewing Machine Instructress in Dauphin. Favorite Sports: Hunting: Initially hunted with Dad for Ducks & Geese. Participated in Goose hunt at The Pas in northern Manitoba. with Isaac & Stella Johnson (Local Barrister in Dauphin) and the Arnold's (Johnson relatives) from the Pas. Later spotted fields for ducking hunting etc. Bowling: Was a team member for 5 Pins, 10 Pins, Ladies and Mixed Teams. Participated in the Western Canada Finals etc. Eventually arthritis in her hands precluded her from this sport. She maintained an above Average Score in this sport.
