Note: COMPILER'S NOTES: The names of the sons of Amos Taylor Sr. are the closest fit to the known sons and grandsons of Jonathan Taylor. The location is significant as well, since there were many Taylor family relatives living in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts areas. I suspect that the sons of Amos Taylor Sr. migrated away from Massachusetts to Vermont and beyond. It is sketchy information that is offered here, but Amos Taylor Jr., according to the census records, did live in Windsor, Vermont in c.1790, and Jonathan was married in Windsor, Vermont as per the marriage information. Jonathan must have been married more than once from the information that is known in the census records. Amos Taylor Jr. is listed as the father of Jonathan Taylor or near relative in the c.1800 United States Census for Windsor, Vermont where Jonathan was married to Tabitha. Jonathan is listed directly under Amos in the census and is the younger of the two gentlemen. Jonathan does have a family at this time. A great deal is not known as yet about the family, however this is a link that should be explored more fully. This tree as it is presently is only an outline and subject to changes, because research continues on this family.
COMPILER'S NOTES: Jonathan Taylor & Tabitha Harris Taylor are found living next door to Edmund H. Taylor in Sheffield, Ashtabula, Ohio in the c.24 August 1850 Federal Census. They are probably father and son or else closely related. Jonathan Taylor does not list any occupation on the census record, and he is elderly, so it is assumed that Edmund is working as a shoemaker to support both families. As it would seem from earlier census records, Jonathan did the same, worked to support his father Amos Taylor as well. This is only an assumption, but it does have merit since the elderly Amos Taylor, who had no family listed, lived next to Jonathan Taylor in the c.1800 Federal Census Record. Jonathan had a family listed in c.1800 and was probably the main provider for his family and Amos Taylor at the time.
COMPILER'S NOTES: Jonathan Taylor had at least six children, and there were probably more since it is believed that he had more than one family. Three children are accounted for presently.
