Notes
a. Note:   Need to get Death Certificate. ARMY John Benjamin Taylor joined the Royal Engineers Railway Troops on 23 June 1915 at the age of 23 as a Sapper, but was promoted to 2nd Corporal on 1 Dec 1918.. He was 5' 7.75" tall. His girth, when fully expanded, was 37", with a range of expansion of 2". He weighed 144 lbs. His physical development was good. He had 2 old vaccination marks on his left arm and he had good vision. On 20 Jan 1916, he was admitted to La Rose. On 3 May 1919 in Calais he was found to be in unlawful possession of 10 bottles of whiskey and reduced in ranks for 40 days. He was stated to have a disability on 29 July 1919 in France. He was awarded the Victory medal on 9 Aug 1922. Apparently, John had tugs (special boats that pulled barges on the River) when my nan Ellen (Nell) married him. They separated but never divorced. Apparently, he had another family after their divorce. MASTER OF THE COMPANY OF WATERMEN AND LIGHTERMEN The Master of the Company in 1953 was a John B Taylor. I have a copy of his signature and have compared it with my grandfather's signature from his army records and I think there is no question that it is a match. He was elected to the Court on 16 July 1946 and made his declaration and took his seat on the Court on 15 October 1946.
b. Note:   H157
Note:   John died after 1953, when he was Master of the Company of Watermen and Lightermen.
