Note: e county, Missouri and completed high school in Redlands, California. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1970: received nuclear submarine training for two years and was selected for the Naval Enlisted Scientific Education Program (NESEP). He attended Purdue University and received a BS in Engineering Science, completing the program in three years. Commissioned as an Ensign in 1975. While attending Purdue University he was the recipient of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1154 Citizenship Award as the senior candidate in the NROTC at Purdue, who contributed most to the Lafayette, Indiana, community through participation in community affairs. He served in the Big Brother program. Selected for Navy pilot training, he received T-34 pilot training at Pensacola, Florida Selected for Engineering Duty Officer Program in 1980 He was then assigned to the commissioning crew on the USS John Young (DD-973) Selected for Naval Post Graduate School at Monterey, California, where he received his Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering, 1982. Received Engineering Duty Officer training at Mare Island, California. Assigned to the US Naval Ship Repair Facility at Subic Bay, Philippines, 1984. Assigned to Supervisor of Ship Building and Repair at Long Beach Naval Shipyard. As repair officer, Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Gann served as his commanding officer's representative to the contractors, reviewing 21 progress reports for ships undergoing repair and overhaul at the various contractors' yards and headed a staff of ship superintendents who handle day-to-day matters only if problems arise which cannot be handled on the staff level. LCDR Gann retired from the US Navy, 30 March 1990. Upon retirement from the Navy, Tim Gann was plant manager for American Metal Bearing, 1990 - 1991. He was employed as project director for The Ken Thompson Company. 1991 - 1992. Tim Gann was owner and operator of Huntington Docks and Decks, 1992 - 1994. He then removed to New Jersey where he was employed at the Sleepmaster mattress firm. Sleepmaster LLC, New Jersey, March 2, 2000, Timothy Dupont resigned as the Vice President of Manufacturing. Timothy Gann, Director of Manufacturing, assumed substantially all of the responsibilities of Mr. Dupont. Mr. Gann served as the Director of Manufacturing from July 1999 through the present time. Sleepmaster filed for Chapter 11 protection on November 16, 2002 Timothy Gann (obituary) GANN Timothy James, age 60, of Lincoln Park died Friday, October 8, at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, NYC. Born in Marshall, Missouri, he resided in CA, relocating to NJ in 1994. Tim earned his BS Degree at Perdue and Masters in Engineering at the Naval Post Grad. School, Monterey, CA. He retired as Lt. Cdr. from the Navy in 1991. He taught Math at St. Joseph's Regional H.S., Montvale. Surviving are his wife Deirdre, daughter April Koryta, son Anthony, sisters Sherry and Toni, brother Craig and grandchildren Kamille, Brennon, Tuesday, Chloe and Rhett. A celebration of Tim's life will be held Monday, October 11 from 5 to 9 PM at the Meadows Golf Course Cafe, Two Bridges Rd., Lincoln Park.
