Notes
a. Note:   2/17/2001 Visited www.polishroots.org and found notes on "Selected Polish Surnames". The following was found for the surname "Dabrowski": Dabrowski/Dabroski is an extremely common name, as of 1990 there were 92,945 Polish citizens named Da~browski (here I'm using a~ to stand for the Polish nasal vowel written as an a with a tail under it, normally pronounced like "own," but before b or p pronounced like "om"). The version without the -w- is less common, but does appear, and is due to the fact that in some areas of Poland they pronounce that W so lightly that it virtually disappears, so spelling it Dabroski makes sense. It's also often spelled Dombrowski/Dombroski because the pronunciation of the nasal vowel makes it sound like that, so it can also be spelled that way -- there were 2,786 Dombrowski's in Poland as of 1990. The surname comes from the term da~browa, "oak grove," so that it means "one from the area of the oak grove," but Da~browa is also any extremely common place name in Poland, so the surname could also be interpreted as meaning "one from Da~browa". Poland had clans eons ago and the Dabrowski's were obviously in the Dab or oak clan. The "ski" is also an indication of nobility. The Polish national anthem is the Dabrowski March. General Jan Henryk Dabrowski formed a Polish Legion and fought under Napoleon.

Asked Mary Ann and Bob to see if anyone has anything on Grandma B, and the time her family spent in Buffalo, NY. Got this Email from Mary Ann:
No, my mother doesn't know too much about Buffalo. Actually, we had a chat last night about your great work on all this research. she just remembers the Dombrowskis lived in Buffalo a long time and doesn't know why they came to Chicago. Grandma had family in Buffalo and that's why they went there from Poland. The whys and wherefores, my mom doesn't know.
  I'll ask more questions.
Don't forget she came to the US as a little baby - under 1 year old.
I'm wondering if Dick Dlesk could help on info for Grandma. His mother was Busia's sister. Also, still living, is the daughter of another of grandma's sisters - Mary. Dorothy Osinski is her name. It could be
possible that Dorothy may know something of the Buffalo years from conversations with her mother. Both these sisters were older than Busia so may have had memories of those days. I believe you have Dick's e-mail address. But Bob says he never reads his e-mail. I could give you mailing addresses, if you'd like to write.
