Note: Thomas William Harvey was born at the Cottage Home, 427 Fairfax Street, Denver Colorado on July 24, 1909. His mother Sarah Reese Kintz resided there for a period of six weeks prior to his birth. The Cottage Home was a home for unfortunate girls. Later it became a home for unwed black and Indian girls who gave up their babies for adoption. Tom's father, Thomas Joseph Harvey and Sarah were married in Colorado Springs on June 7, 1909 just prior to Sarah's departure to Denver to have her baby. That marriage ended in divorce on May 31, 1910. I question that they ever even lived together, I think it was a shotgun wedding to give the child a legitimate name. Sarah married Sam Birch and Tom was raised, entered the Navy, married, had children and died using the last name of Birch although I can find no evidence of adoption.
