Notes
a. Note:   Ruth Ellen Lytle was the youngest of three daughters born to Alta (Marsh) and Sam Lytle. She was born in Wiggins Colorado February 27,1911. Her Father died when she was just a week old. Ruth was five when her mother married George Davenport and the family moved to San Bernardino, CA. Then to San Pedro, CA where the family lived for many years. Ruth married Tom (Thomas William) Birch in 1930 in Santa Ana, CA. They were blessed with two children, a daughter, Colleen Mae born February 5, 1934 and a son, Terry Lytle born February 15, 1936. Ruth was a switchboard operator at McDonald Douglas during the war years while Tom was in the Navy. The marriage to Tom ended in 1940. While working at Douglas Ruth met Frank (Frank Franklin) Floyd and they married in 1945. Frank and Ruth had a long and happy (though rough at times) marriage. Frank was the Fire Chief of the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire District until his retirement. Ruth was the Secretary/Bookkeeper for the Summerland Water District for many years, retiring when Frank did. After retirement Frank and Ruth moved to Oakhurst, CA where they lived in a beautiful "A" frame house on ten acres of land. It was a favorite visiting spot for Colleen and Terry and their families. The grandchildren loved to roam the "property" and used it as a base for snow play and skiing in the winter months. As years progressed and their health began to fail they decided to move closer to medical care and returned to Carpinteria, CA where they lived in a mobil home for many years. Frank and Ruth and their grandson Ed Thompson (Colleen's son) and his wife Tammy sold their mobil homes and jointly purchased a house on Santa Monica Road in Carpinteria, CA where Frank still lives. Shortly after moving into the house on Santa Monica Road Ruth suffered a massive stroke from which she never recovered. After months in the hospital and re-hab center she returned home were she lived until it was obvious that Frank just couldn't take care of her 24 hours a day. She lived her last years in a convalescent hospital where she died February 17, 1990.
