Note: From interview with Eleanora Brobst (nee Bachert) and niece Margaret Fegley on 5/30/03: She told me that Kenny was a carpenter who did construction. In addition to the home I met her at at 711 Fairview in Still Creek, she and her husband built the front homes and the apartment building in the back on their land with their own hands. Said she remembered mixing and pouring the cement for the foundations herself, as she helped him too. She told me that they had lived there their entire marriage, forty plus years. Brobst Sr., 80, of Still Creek, Tamaqua R. 1, died Friday evening in Hazleton General Hospital. He was the husband of Eleanore (Bachert) Brobst. He was last employed by the Reading Railroad, where he worked as a track walker and later as a tunnel and crossing watchman. Born in Quakake, he was a son of the late Harry and Phoebe "Dora" (Bachert) Brobst. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Rush Township, and Tamaqua Moose Lodge. Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, Kenneth Jr. of Still Creek and Kevin of New Ringgold; two brothers, Howard of Still Creek and Elmer of Quakake; and four grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Carl. The Lamar Christ Funeral Home, Hometown, Tamaqua R. 2 is in charge of the arrangements. SOURCE: Kenneth A.
