a. Note:   On the 7th of January 1920, Alfred was honorably discharged from the Minnesota National Guard. The certificate states that Alfred A. Bruton was a private of Company "I" of the Fifth Regiment of Minnesota All of the following papers are in my possession (T.R.Bruton) Infantry National Guard. By reason of enlistment in the U.S.Army RSO 3 1/7/18. Said Alfred A. Bruton was born in the state of North Dakota and when enlisted was 18 years of age, by occupation a switchboard man had blue eyes and brown hair, fair complexion and was 5 feet, 7 inches in height. Given this 7th day of January in Makato. On the reverse side of the discharge there is this information. Enlistment Record Name: Alfred A. Bruton Grade:Private Enlisted: Feb 24th, 1918 at Crookston for 3 years Single Enlistment Record Name: Alfred A. Bruton Grade: Pvt. 1/cl. Enlisted Jan 15th, 1920 at Jefferson Barracks, Mo. Completed 3 yrs, 0 mos. 0 days at date of discharge Single Remarks: (first line is hard to read because of old scotch tape over area).... Grade June 30th, 1922 Pvt. 1/cl 1st enlistment. Entitled to pay under Act of June 4th, 1920. Entitled to travel pay to Crookston, Minnesota. Service record shows Crookston, Minnesota as place of acceptance for enlistment. Note: Stamp at lower left corner shows that he was paid $138.30 on Jan 15th, 1923. ****On front of Enlistment is the Honorable Discharge***** Note: He was discharged at Washington Barracks, D.C. Note2: On lower left corner is a stamp from the Us. Army Recruiting Station Harrisburg, Pa. dated Feb. 4th, 1927 where he reenlisted for 3 years Ord. Dept. Frankfort Arsenal, Phila., Penna. On enlistment papers it shows that Bruton, Alfred A., (Army Serial No.) 6425692, Grade Private enlisted February 4th, 1927 at Harrisburg, Penna completed 4 years, 7 months, 23 days service for longevity pay. Was discharged on 26th September, 1928. Reason for discharge Sec III, A.R. 615.360(Purchase) Single Remarks: Services honest & faithful. No unauthorized absences under107th AW. Entitled to travel pay. Specialist third class (Clerk) pp3, S.O. 114b Hq.Fkd Ars, Pa.
