Note: Probably the best daddy a boy could ever have. Every bit a man yet could be tender and understanding. Always faithful to my mother (Gertie Lula Alice Dake) and to his children. Daddy loved the Lord. It was my dad who took me to the woods outside Tulsa to supposedly show me how to make a whistle out of a tree limb. After showing me that, he then showed me how to be a Christian. What a gift! In his later years Daddy had quit smoking but it was too late to avoid heart trouble. After his heart attack we moved in town so he did not have so much work to do. However, he never really got well. While on a business trip to Cairo, IL, accompanied by my mother, Daddy got sick. A doctor was called to the motel and Dad was treated. However, later in the night the pain returned even worse and Mother took him to the hospital. After filling out the paper work Mother returned to his hospital room. Soon thereafter Daddy sat upright in his bed and was gone. I was in college when he died. He wanted me to get the education he never received. Jesse Rayborn was Transportation Manager of Tidewater Associated Oil Company headquartered in Tulsa. His responsibilities were to buy and sell and maintain all company cars and trucks. He was told he had been considered for a vice presidency but was passed over because of his heart condition. To have come this far without education makes one wonder what he could have done had he had the opportunity. -Bill Rayborn-
