"Death Claims Respected Old Time Citizen
Word came this week that Mrs. Thomas Coad, age 64, had died January 15, 1918, at Seattle Washington, where she had been living for the last four years. Death came as a result of cancer of the stomach from which Mrs. Coad had been a sufferer for several years.
As a girl Mrs. Coad lived in Leachtown England, where she married Thomas Coad.
A few years later the couple, with two children, Susan and Bessie, came to America, and settled in Vermont, where Thomas and William were born.
For about 32 years, Mrs. Coad was a resident of this community, and one of its most highly respected members. She was a most devoted mother, seeking ever the best of everything for her children.
Surviving children are Thomas and Ray of this city, and Bert, Arthur and Minnie who had been living with her. All eight children grew to maturity.
Mrs. Bessie Tressidder, one of the older children, died here some years ago. There are also six grandchildren living.
Mrs. Coad was buried at Bellevue, across the bay from Seattle, where Mr. Coad's remains were also interred. "
Notes on obituary: Thomas Coad and Mary Jane Mitchell were married at the Parish Church of Gwinear - Cornwall England on June 12, 1873. Source marriage record from GRO of England.
