Note: Birth may have been in Ellestin KY. Wife Susan wrote in 1929: Five families of Griggs children gathered home in honor of J.C.'s 73rd birthday. Although J.C. was a semi-invalid he enjoyed the occasion very much. Between 1915 and 1925, there were four GRIGGS who married four CARPENTERs. These were my uncles and aunts, farm families near Colby in Thomas County, Kansas. My mother, Minerva Griggs, was the fifth child and she broke the mold - married Gene Beery in Kansas City in 1920. We then joined the others in Colby in 1929. Another source gives birthplace as Douglasville, KY. Photo of tombstone. Etched, "Jonas C."
