In November 1936 when he applied for his Social Securitycard, he was working (as manager) and living at the MarineTerrace Hotel, Collins Avenue and 27th Street, Miami Beach, Fla.Before coming to Dallas (listing in 1941 Houston citydirectory), he worked for the Stratford Hotel in Houston andlived in the Milby Hotel there (see below).Was assistant manager of Baker Hotel in Dallas until shortlybefore his death.Associated with Jack Potter in the oil brokerage business inDallas in 1952.Obituary said he had lived in Dallas for the last 13 years.Managed White Plaza Hotel in San Antonio for a short time, thenwas assistant manager of the White Plaza Hotel in Dallas. For ayear (?), he was manager and part owner of the Muti Hotel inCuero, DeWitt County. In September 1945, he was the manager ofthe Goff Hotel in Kenedy, Texas. He moved back to Dallas when hehad to undergo a serious operation. After recovering, he joinedthe Baker Hotel. When he resigned in Janaruy 1952 to enter theoil business, he had been assistant manager at the Baker forfive years. He died of a coronary occlusion. He had beenineligible for World War II military service because of a heartproblem.Listed in Dallas city directories of 1938 and 1939 as single manworking as clark and living at Cliffton Hotel. 1941 Houston city directory entry:Pouncey Temple C mgr Stratford Hotel r Milby Hotel(Stratford was at 414 Fannin St.; Milby was at 906 Texas Ave.,at Travis St.)Listed in 1944-45 directory as employee of White Plaza Hotel,living at the same place. In1952 directory, assistant manager, Baker Hotel, living at 3815Hawthorne.Was member of the Dallas Junior Chamber of Commerce and theHotel Greeters Association.Funeral service was held at Sparkman Brand Chapel in Dallas, theRev. Ben Bennett officating.
