a. Note:   Rolland Cox Sr. served in the army as a private during World War I. He was stationed in France in 1918-1919. At the time of his honorable
 discharge from the army in 1919, he was 22 years of age, had blue
 eyes, auburn hair, sandy complexion, and was 5 feet 2 inches in
 height. (#4269073 Pvt. 1st class, cas. Dep. 1464 Demob. Group last
 assigned: Co. "K" 28th infantry.)
 For most of his adult life, he lived in Madison, SD where he worked
 for Wenks Produce, a poultry buying/processing business. During his
 early years his job required riding "chicken cars" by railroad as they
 delivered live chickens to Chicago. Later he drove a truck to
 surrounding small communities buying poultry and eggs for his
 employer. For several months before his death, he worked as a radio
 operator for the Madison Police Department.
