Notes
a. Note:   [3us.ftw] There is some doubt as to Sabina's mother's maiden name. Her son Tom believes her father had two wives and Sabina's mother's maiden name was Reid. It is true that his (Tom's) other grandmother's maiden name was Reid and his other grandfather had two wives. All the records I can find indicate that Laurence Hynes, Sabina's father, was married to Mary (maybe Mary Anne) Banes Hynes and had ten children by her. There is no record I can find of a Mary Anne Reid. Baptism records of the first four children of her father Laurence and mother Mary Banes Hynes are shown in the parish records of Moycullen, in County Galway. This is the parish adjoining Killannin, where they lived. Moycullen does not show any baptism records for the seven or eight later born children. Moycullen is where Mary Banes married Laurence Hynes, so she may have returned from where they lived in Rosscahill to her nearby parish church to baptize her first four children. The parish records from St. Annin's, Rosscahill, (Killannin), show the next born child (Anne), then skip two kids (Flann and Sabina) to show Laurence, skip James, and then show Michael Patrick Hynes. The 1901 Census lists the Laurence and Mary Hynes family with him a farmer and her a wife as living in Ower-Wormhole in Rosscahill. These are villages or townlands northeast from Killannin. The 1901 Census shows the children without the two oldest (Tom and Mary) who at ages 22 and 20 probably had moved out. The census shows all to be Roman Catholic, and speaking both Irish and English. All were able to read and write, except 4 year old James and 2 year old Michael. The 1901 Census shows Sabina as age 8. That would place her birth in either 1892 or 1893. When she arrived in America in 1913, she listed her age as 18, which would put her birth in 1895. The census shows her as two years older than her brother Laurence but an 1895 birth would make her younger than him and would create a four year hiatus in births in the family followed by an explosion of 3 births in very quick succession. I am changing her birth year to 1893. Family members remember a son named Frank but there are no records that I have found to support this. It is possible that Flann is a pet name for Frank but I don't know - yet.
