a. Note:   Anna Marcelline Dubuque was born on July 22, 1892 in a large farmhouse in Big Point, a small farming town a few miles from Chatham, Ontario. She was the youngest of 6 children born to Julius Dubuque and Josephine Rose, only 3 of whom survived childhood. Tragically, Anna's mother died within a year of her birth. Her father remarried, but Anna, her brother Alphy, and her sister Alphonsine were sent to live with different relatives. The only time they saw their father was during their yearly visits on New Year's Day. The fact that her father and his second wife had 9 children to raise did not erase the hurt of rejection Anna felt - a feeling she lived with for the rest of her life.
