Notes
a. Note:   John William, the third child, was born in Toronto on Jan. 24, 1890. After the family moved to Chatham and he was of age, John became a barber, starting his business first in Chatham and then relocating to Detroit. He was the first of the family to come to the U.S., arriving here on July 29, 1910. John (who used the name William John) met and married Anna Dubuque on June 24, 1913 at Our Lady of Lourdes in River Rouge, Michigan. Family stories have it that "Bill" was heard to remark (in a teasing way) that "I should have never gone to that barber's convention!" He had a sense of humor for which he is known. Bill and Anna first lived in River Rouge near the home of Anna's aunt and uncle, Evelyn and Julius Benoit. "Mimi"and "Pipi"(as Anna had called them) had raised Anna because her mother died and her father had remarried. Bill set up his barbershop business in River Rouge and then relocated it when he moved the family to Detroit.
