Note: Florence served in the Women's Land Army during World War II at Dalwood Farm, near Axminster in Devon, and at Plympton near Plymouth in Devon. She was unaware at the time that her forefathers came from the area. She was a very fit person throughout her life, but she suffered a cerebral haemorrhage on the 24 January 1997. On the 28 January 1997 she regained consciousness, but had total amnesia of the period of unconsciousness - in her own words she felt very tired after returning from an after-lunch stroll on the 24th, went to sleep, and woke up in Margate Hospital on the 28th. There was no pain or other sensation. On the 31 January 1997 she had a further haemorrhage, with a further few days of coma, awaking again, but slowly becoming weaker. On the 1 March 1997 she was no longer responding, and on the 4 March 1997 at 5 p.m. (17.00) she passed away quietly.
