a. Note:   MARGARET was descended from a long line of Thames Watermen at Deptford.
 Family rumour has it that she was a strict disciplinarian, and houseproud. In the days before floor carpets were commonplace, wooden floors and tables had to be scrubbed white daily with soap and bleach ! This probably had the effect of reducing the incidence of infections and infestations, common in those days.
 Note that her younger sister, two years her junior, was named ELIZABETH by her parents, who had either forgotten that MARGARET's second name was ELIZABETH, or they later changed their minds.
