Note: Jeremiah Foster m. Margaret Backster 2/6/1759 in Sedbergh, W.RY Then a son John was born 1791 but in Garton on the Wolds so after the marriage they traveled back to Garton on the Wolds. It seems the Fosters were in Southburn and Lamplughs were in Garton on the Wolds. A little traveling here. There is a Thomas Foster shown by Land Tax Assessments but no Jeremiah, dated 1764. So Jeremiah and Margaret had definetly gone back to Garton on the Wolds or Southburn. In 1781-1812 A Robert Foster in Hebblethwaite Hall, Sedbergh is in the area , so it seems they did not return. I am told Foster and Backster(Baxter) is not a common name for the area of Sedbergh. On the registers of The Parish Church of Sedbergh Co. YORK 1594-1800 Marr. for Jeremiah and Margaret b.P. Banns extra names of witnesses, Joseph Foster and Richard Baxter. They had to have lived there at least six years. Jeremiah Foster m.
