Note: a resolution that I am aware. The first record of James is noted in a survey for John Davison, inthe Granville District dated 26 Nov 1748, that "James Templeton andGeorge Davison" were carrying the survey chains. A survey dated 6 Feb1753 was for 400 acres in Rowan county on Davison's Creek for JamesTempleton. ("297 - James Templeton plat dated 6 Feb 1753 400 acres(in Anson County), joining James McCollaugh Sr., George Davison Jr,and John McConnol CC: Jas Smiley, Humph Coningham, Jas Carter Dep Surentered 28 May 1752.) He did not sign for the Grant until 1761 ("4919- James Templeton 9 January 1761 400 acres in Rowan County in theParish of St Luke on both sides of Davisons Creek, joining JamesMcCulloch, George Davision Jr, and John McConnal /s/ (mark) WitnessW. In 1776 he deeded 200 acres for 5 Pounds to George Templeton, and in1783 he deeded the remaining 200 acres to Joseph Templeton for 5Pounds. (The 5 pounds appears to be a token amount, and it is thoughtthat George and Joseph were his youngest sons.) In 1778 James Jr,John, and Robert Templeton acquired lands adjacent to James. The 1778Rowan County Tax list includes: James Sr, James Jr, George and JohnTempleton. The 1790 US Census does not list either James Templeton or JamesTempleton Jr. There is a Widow Templeton listed who very well may bethe family of one or both of these individuals. There is no proof thatall the following are James Templetons children. THEY ARE INCLUDED ASPOSSIBLE CHILDREN. In a book by Linn on Rowan County Tax Lists, It isstated "James (X) Templeton, from East Nottingham Township of ChesterCounty, Pa, received a Granville grant for 400 acres in Rowan Countyon both sides of Davison's Creek, adj James McCulloh, George Davison,Jr, and John McConnal 9 Jan 1761; the land had been surveyed 6 Feb1753; the Templetons and Davidsons had been neighbors in Pennsylvania(Chester Co, Pa, Tax Lists; Hofmann, Vol. 3:107). James Templeton wasappointed Constable in April 1755 (Minutes of the Court of P & QS,Book 2;64). In the 1790 Census, the widow Templeton is listed with 2white males 16+ yrs, 4 white males under 16 and 3 free white females.A total of 9 people. Need to track them into the 1800 census ifpossible.
Note: The pedigree of James Templeton has caused considerable study, without
