a. Note:   Robert Peter Tendick was born in Germany, moved briefly to Ohio and then to Missouri. He joined the 1st Missouri Infantry (Union) at the outbeak of the War
 Between the States. He was a private at first but rose in the ranks. He
 particiapted in several skirnishes and fought as a 1st Sergeant at Wilson's
 Creek in August, 1861. After the battle the 1st Mo. became an artillery unit.
