Note: In some instances, the name is spelled "McMahon" and in others its "McMahen" --------------------------------- OBITUARY: Catherine H. McMahon, wife of William V. McMahon, and daughter of William and Nancy Hill, granddaughter of the Rev. G. Hill, of Williamson County, Tenn, was born in Rutherford County, Tenn, Sep. 25, 1824; professed religion in 1841 and joined the M. E. Church. Her Christian life was marked by a uniform and unbroken method from the date of her conversion to the end, which was April 21, 1890. She read and searched the Scriptures constantly with deep interest. She was spiritual and a safe counselor in spiritual things. She loved to hear a gospel sermon. She loved the Church and rejoiced to see truly converted men and women coming into her communion. Her influence as a praying Wife and mother was felt in her own family. Her children are all in the Church. She enjoyed religion. She had temptations and her faith was sorely tried, but taught of God she profited by it and was made better as gold tried in the fire. The day before her death I visited her and while talking with her in reference to her spiritual state, she said with a smile: "I have been preparing and looking to this event a long time and am ready." Thus an humble Christian wife and mother, in the midst of a deeply afflicted household passed away, leaving behind her an aged and deeply bereaved husband and three children, lonely and sad, but comforted in hope of meeting where death and parting will be no more forever.
