Note: N11 Oral family story relates that Dan was born at sea on an un-nationalized freighter. He arrived in New York on August 16, 1909 with his mother on the Red Star Line S. S. Vaderland, Antwerp, Belgium to New York. The ship manifest states he is months old. Dan was born in December 1908 which makes him a little over 8 months on this ship. It is possible that Dan was born on a frieghter from Odessa Russia to Antwerp, Belgium. Traveling by freighter from Odessa Russia to Antwerp Belgium would not take 8 months. Further Fanny states her last residence was Elisavetgrad Russia so there was no prolonged stay in Belgium.
