Note:   September Session 1817 North Carolina Stokes County The petition of Lazarus Hawkins showeth that William Hawkins, his father died about the year of 1803 intestate leaving a considerable quantity of land that descended to his heirs, these lands have never as yet been divided between these said heirs and some of them are enjoying the same that of right belongs to others-- The heirs of William Hawkins, desc. now living and Bejamin Hawkins, Nelly intermarried with Bill Simmons, Betsy married to Buster Heath, William Hawkins, Lazarus Hawkins, James Hawkins, Joel Hawkins, and Nancy Hawkins--The above named Lazarus Hawkins has purchased and now owns together with the said James Hawkins four of the shares of the said heirs besides their own to with William, Joel, Nelly and Betsy--There are two tracts on the four hundred acres on the waters of Mill Creek--The other three hundred and fifty on the waters of Buffalo Creek--James, Joel and Nancy above mentioned and under age Jesse Simmons their guardian-- George Wilkins is the juror of Benjamin above mentioned-- We pray your worship for partition of above land.  More About LAZARUS HAWKINS and MARGARETTA PETREE: Fact 1: Found their marriage in the Stokes County marriages, their bond date was December 31, 1816 so it is a guess they got married in January. Bondsman & Witness: Henry Petree, M W B Armstrong.
 Fact 2: Her name was listed as "Betsy", and changed the spelling of her name from "Petrie" to read like the marriage records.
