Notes
a. Note:   ine's son Frederick. I have no other proof than her word. Gail, here's the rough translation of Mr. Klatt's letter (relevant to the data from the Mainbernheim city records): 1. Johann Christoph Schinnerer, *9/06/1822, in Mainbernheim, son of David Schinnerer, blacksmith/nails, petitioned the city on 2/10/1847 for permission to marry Barbara Hüfner, daughter of the Färbermeister (master dyer) Kaspar Hüfner from Karlstadt. His respective report cards were enclosed. At the same time he petitions to open a business. The petition to the city administration (Magistrat) was denied after lengthy negotiations, because his father, a blacksmith/nails barely made a living with his craft in Mainbernheim since nails were now made in other factory-type productions. The petition was elevated to the royal interior ministry, where on 6/21/1847 the denial of the petition was upheld. Christoph again appears before the city administration on 8/09/1847 and petitioned for his "Bürgerrecht"( right to establish a homestead and business when married to someone from outside the city??) but the petition was again denied because of insufficient assets/income. He appears again in Mainbernheim on 5/22/1854 and wants to marry Sophie Schmitt, a single female, 36 years of age. The young woman has assets of 550 Gulden. She already has two illegitimate children who according to the marriage contract, are to be legitimized by this marriage. He again petitions to open a business and to perform his craft in Mainbernheim. A protest against this petition is filed by the widow of his father, who has passed away in the meantime. Christoph remains persistent and the city issued a "Konzession" (temporary permit) on 8/22/1855. He reports assets of 901 Gulden. He has already separated from Sophie Schmitt and now wants to wed Rosina Barbara Müller, *12/15/1822, from Mainbernheim. The final permit (to reside and run a business) was therefore granted on 12/12/1856. An annotation from 10/27/1863 reports that Rosina Barbara Müller wed Christoph Schinnerer at the beginning of the year 1857 and that Christoph shortly afterwards emigrated to America. A divorce petition was filed later (Archive 020-543). 2. His father David Schinnerer appeared before the city on 10/09/1832 and petitioned to marry the single woman Luise Juliane Wagner from Prichsenstadt as his second wife. The petition was granted on 10/11/1832
Note:   There was one person in the family who I talked to that said John C Schinnerer adopted Carol
