a. Note:   Old Chris went blind in later years. He managed to ride his horse about the
 property and used to ride to the mailbox to collect the mail. He had a
 passion for cricket and used to call a halt to farm work about 3pm so his
 sons could play cricket with him. They hated the game and would slope off to
 play tennis. This information came from his grandaughter, Marie. She got
 along well with old Chris, because they both loved cricket.
