Note: ALBERT CORNELIUS (CONDIA) ADAMS 1892 - 1922 Unfortunately, we know very little about Condia (he also went by "Condy"). He was born on 23 Feb 1892 in Beaver Township, Taney County, Missouri. He was the seventh born child of Samuel C. Adams and Margaret Selvidge Harris. In about 1895, Condia's family moved to Pleasant Hill Township, Newton County, Arkansas, where his father and mother set up a homestead and farmed 27 acres in the Ozark Mountains. It was beautiful land, mostly agricultural and mountainous timber. In 1901, at age nine, Condia's family moved to Olympia, Washington. When Condia was 12 years old, his father, Samuel, died and his mother, Margaret, was 51 years old. He was probably very close to his older brothers, Ben and Rube (Condia named his only son Theodore Rubin Adams). Condia was shown living with his mother at age 18 in the 1910 Census in Olympia. He was not employed and had attended school and could read and write English. After finishing school, he probably became a logger; most pictures we have of Condia are of him in the woods in logging clothes and next to large fallen trees. It was also known that he was a fireman on a ferryboat between Olympia and Nisqually. On 5 June 1915, at age 22, Condia married 18-year-old Ona Mae Boone, born in Cando, North Dakota. "Onie" came from a very large family in Olympia. Onie had 15 brothers and sisters and 4 stepbrothers and stepsisters. The Boone family was not only large but a very close knit family, especially the 11 Boone sisters. The Boone sisters actually remembered more about "Condy" than anyone else. Onie's sisters, Tot and Ruby, said that Condy was a great guy and that his marriage to Onie was a "love match". The 1920 Census lists Condy (27) as a laborer, Ona (22) as wife, and June (3) living in Olympia. Some of the only information I had prior to beginning this research came from Grandma Onie. The two pieces of information were, copy of all of the birthdays of the Adams children (probably transcribed from a family Bible) and a copy of the "Family Tree" that I drew with her help in 1966. We are not sure of the cause of Condy's death. He died in his sleep on 22 Sep 1922. I can remember my Grandma Onie telling me about his death. She said that he was fine when he went to bed, however, during the night she heard him take a deep breath and when she woke up in the morning she could not wake him. She said that one half of his face was black. He probably died of a stroke or heart failure.
