a. Note:   George and his wife Judith migrated across Pennsylvania after he immigrated from England. We do not know who his parents were, when he came from England, or any other specific information.
  George and Judith stopped for an undisclosed time in Centre County, where at least one son, Cyrus, was born. They continue d to migrate west and settled in the vicinity of New Castle. It is certain the y had three children, Cyrus , Mary, whom we have specific information, and a Da vid as reported by George�s great grandson Paul. Their may have been as many a s seven or eight children.
  George�s son Cyrus is the �Patriarch� of the New Castle and Ellwood City Cartwrights. Other male children, if the one�s listed are in fact related, migrated to Oregon after the Civil War to seek their fort unes in the upstart gold mining communities.
  One George Cartwright is known to be Cyrus's father since in Sarah's application for Civil War pension, Cyrus' s sister Mary Law attested that she was, in fact his sister. On her death cert ificate is listed George Cartwright, born in England.
  Cyrus's mother was app arently Judith.. As of now there is no way to connect a specific Judith with a specific George.
