Note: This person is not yet validated as a relative. There is no proof that this pe rson is the brother of Cyrus, though Arthur Cartwright believed so. We believe that Arthur (1926-1977) spoke to some of his grand aunts and uncles, most nota bly Judith, daughter of Cyrus, and that she provided him with some family infor mation. Note that Cyrus (Richard's nephew) named one child after his father, George, one after himself, one after his mother, Judith and then: David, Rich ard, Nancy (Jenny) and Mary. It appears that he may have named them after his aunts and uncles. This tends to further support Richard and David as children of George and Judith. Also note, Richard's 2nd child, son Chester has the mi ddle name Miles(as indicated in a Rye Valley, OR marriage record listing), whic h occurs at least twice under Cyrus Cartwright's descendents, including his 1st born son George Miles, and his 1st born son David Miles, respectively. See further reasoning under his mother, Judith. Richard and his brother David mi grated to Rye Valley, Baker County Oregon, a upstart gold mining community in 1 863, following the Civil War, apparently to seek their fortunes. Richard and his brother were both married in Putnam County IN and also must have stopped f or a time in IL where David's first son was born.
