Notes
a. Note:   May have died of Tuberculosis. First lived in Jasper area then moved to Perry County by Snake Branch. Rumor: John Herman could speak and write/translate. He may have been like a Justice of the Peace. He had a pretty good amount of money and he'd loan it out. He didn't get paid back and either had to leave town or was chased out. He ran a saw mill in Perry County. Gerhard Francis (Frank George) took over the saw mill. The 1860 Dubois County Census lists "Herman Cleasner", age 26, farmer, born in Germany. The 1870 Dubois County Census lists "Herman Kleusner", age 36, farmer, born in Hannover. The marriage record for John Herman and Mary Catherine list his name as "Herman G. Kluesner."
