Text:   Description: This database is a list of burials at the Center Church Burying Ground (also known as the Ancient Burying Ground) in Hartford, Connecticut from 1749 through 1806. Information provided in this database includes date,name of individual, relations, and occasionally birth or baptism date, age at time of death, or other miscellaneous information. The Center Church Burying Ground was the original cemetery used during the settlement of Hartford in the1600s. Throughout the years over six thousand people were buried there. The list of burials, which constitutes this database, was originally compiled by Miss Mary K. Talcott from records at the Connecticut Historical Society. Hercompilation was published in Connecticut Magazine (later known as Connecticut Quarterly) in several issues between 1898 and 1899. The Connecticut Historical Society and the Connecticut State Library have some issues of this magazine,which may or may not include the issues in which this list was published. The records from which this list was compiled are assumed to still be in existence at the Connecticut Historical Society. Lived 43y 9m 31d Father: Daniel SEYMOUR (AFN:20SM-P26) Mother: Lydia KING (AFN:20SM-P3D) Center Church Cemetery records state: Mable Smith, February 20, 1795, b. 21 April 1757. "Wife of Moses Smith; daughter of Captain Daniel and Lydia (King) Seymour, aged 44 years." History of the Second Church of Christ in Hartford by Edwin Pond Parker says, "February 18, 1795 - Mable, wife of Moses Smith, Pregnancy, age 44 years."
