a. Note:   In the Wednesday, October 29, 1890, issue of the Mazeppa Tribune appeared the following announcement: "MARRIED - On Friday, Oct. 21, Hugh Darcy and Miss Mary J. McBride were made happy for life by a few words spoken by Rev. Father Haley at the Catholic Church in Lake City. After the ceremonies were over the young couple were escorted to the home of the bride's parents in Mt. Pleasant where a bounteous repast was spread and music furnished for their many friends until far into the night. The young couple received a large number of fine presents and with their many friends the Tribune joins in wishing them much joy. They have moved on to the J.R. Curry farm where they will always welcome their friends. " Extract of baptismal record of Hugh Darcy as copied from the church records by Rev. Pius Schmid, pastor of St. Mary's parish in Belvidere 1885-1889: "Hugh Dorsy is born on the 19th day of February 1867 and baptized on the 16th day of June 1867 by Rev. Joseph Knauf, according to the baptismal register of the catholic congregation of Belvidere Minn. (Signed) Rev. Pius Schmid, parish priest " Obituary of Hugh Darcy from unknown and undated newspaper clipping: " FORMER RESIDENT DIES AT AGE 70 - Hugh Darcy of Detroit Lakes, Minn., passed away Tuesday morning, June 8. His death followed a heart attack. He was born in Chester township seventy years ago. Later he was engaged in farming and for a number of years followed the well drilling business. In October, 1890, he was united in marriage to Mary J. McBride in Lake City. They presided in Mazeppa where he was police officer for several years. Twenty five years ago he moved to Amenia, N.D., where he farmed for a number of years. From there he moved to Detroit Lakes where he resided til his death. Mr. Darcy was employed in the Bogg Implement factory of that city. He was a man of fine character, devoted to his family and his church. Funeral services were held Thursday morning, June 10, at the Holy Rosary church, and interment made at Bellechester Friday afternoon, June 11. He is survived by his wife, one son Martin of New York City, four daughters, Mrs. Julia Martin, Rochester; Mrs. Arthur Ebentire, Carrington, N.D.; Mrs. Leo TeVogt, Devils Lake, N.D., and Genevieve at home. He is also survived by his mother now ninety four years of age of Chester township, three brothers and one sister. One brother James J. Darcy of Mazeppa died in April of this year. "
