a. Note:   Obituary of Earl J. Oliver, unnamed and undated newspaper clipping: " EARL J. OLIVER - Earl J. Oliver, 87, Hill City, died Monday, May 2, 1977, at the Itasca Memorial Hospital at Grand Rapids. Mr. Oliver was born June 20, 1889, at Clearwater. He was raised and attended schools at Long Prairie. For several years, Mr. Oliver worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad in Seattle, moving to Clarissa after retirement where he lived for many years. Mr. Oliver moved to Hill City six years ago and for the past two months had been a resident at the Leisure Hills Nursing Home in Grand Rapids. Funeral services were held Friday, May 6, 10 a.m., from the United Methodist Church at Hill City, Rev. Wayne L. Walther officiating. Interment was at Woodman Cemetery at Clarissa. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Ellen) Bangert of Fargo, North Dakota, and Mrs. Bert (Alice) Lechner of Moorhead; two sons, Joseph of Hill City and Elbert of Champlin; six step-daughters, Marie Reed of Cloquet, Ethel Holman of Silver Bay, Irene Ellingson of Deer Creek, Mamie Wiedemier of Browerville, Gladyce Belinski of Erskine and Carol Hickey of Osseo; one step-son, Robert Warner of Barnum; one sister, Mrs. C.P. (Florence) Morrow of Sutter Creek, California; 23 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma, and two sons, John and Earl. Arrangements were with Rowe Funeral Home at Grand Rapids. "
