Notes
a. Note:   Walter McBride left home sometime around 1900 and went to Montana. On May 12, 1910, when the Federal census was taken for that area, Walter was living at Hellgate Township, Missoula County, Montana and was working as a laborer at a saw mill. His marital status was given as single. On April 18, 1930 the Federal census shows that Walter was now living at Brawley Township, Imperial County, California and was employed as a laborer on a ranch. He is still shown as being single. The Certificate of Death for Walter John McBride gives his date of birth as May 28, 1877. This is one year earlier than the record in the family bible. The death certificate indicates that Walter was widowed. Obituary of Walter J. McBride, Merced Sun Star, Monday, December 11, 1961, page 21: "WALTER J. McBRIDE - GUSTINE - Funeral services are pending for Walter John McBride, 84, who died Friday in a Merced hospital. The Davis-Hansen Funeral Chapel here is seeking any known relatives of the deceased. He was a native of Minnesota, who had resided for a time in the Gustine area. He had been residing recently at a rest home near Turlock. He has no known survivors."
