Note: d some grandchildren are contained in two pedigrees recorded in the Harleian MS series. One is based on two visitations of the county of Warwick in 1563 and 1619 (Harleian MS 1563). The other is based on"Collections of Descents and Arms of the Gentry in Middlesex", 1634 (Harleian MS 1551.) Minor differences are due mainly to the fact that son of the martyr, John Rogers, Procter of the Civil Law, represented the family in Warwick in 1619, and grandson of the martyr and son of Daniel, Francis Rogers, represented the family in Middlesex in 1634.In the Middlesex pedigree, the martyr's father is "Rogers, of Sutton Vallens, in Kent". Daniel, of Sunbury, County of Middlesex, Clerk of the Council to Queen Elizabeth (ob. 1591), who married Susan, daughter of Nicasius Yetsworth, Clerk of the Signet, and Secretary for the French tongue; 2. John, a Proctor of the Civil Law, who married Mary, daughter of William Leete, of Everden, County of Cambridge, D.C.L.; 3. Ambrose; 4. Samuel; 5. Philip; 6. Bernard; 7. Augustine; 8. Barnaby; 9. Susan, who married John Short, Merchant, of London; 10. Elizabeth, who married James Proctor, Chancellor of Salisbury; and, 11. Hester, who married Henry Ball, Physician. The children of Daniel Rogers, of Sunbury, are Francis, and a daughter named Posthuma. The children of John and Mary Rogers are Cassandra, Elizabeth, Heckuba, Constantine, John, Edward, Mary, and Varro (a son)." The other pedigree (Harleain MS. 1551, fol. 59 b.) follows the other closely with these important additions: 1. The progenitor of the family is called "Rogers of Sutton Vallens in Kent; 2. John Rogers, who married Adryan Pratt, is said to be of Birmingham*, Warwick; 3. Francis, the son of Daniel Rogers of Sunbury, married a daughter of ______ Cory, and a son Francis and a daughter Posthuma married to ______ Spears. The arms given in both pedigrees are precisely alike: Argent; a chevron sable, between three stags statant sable; a crescent for difference or: crest, a stag'e head sable, issuant from a ducal coronet or. *Deritend a hamlet in the suburbs of Birmingham. (Chester, 1861, pp 222,223.) The pedigrees and other genealogical MSS, dated 1565, 1612, and 1623 support the following ancestral lineage of the martyr: 1. John Fitz-Roger, who married a daughter of Sir Simon Furneup. 2. Sir John Fitz-Roger, whose 2nd wife was Anne, daughter of Sir Thomas Etchingham, and widow of Dr. Audley. 3.
