Note: This author leans to the parents of Benoni Sroufe b. 1812 Yellow Springs, Greene Co., OH being Thomas Sroufe, Sr. b. 1775 PA and Catherine Bachelor(Batchelor) b. 1786 in PA. Thos and Catherine were md. 1810 (his 2nd wife) and in the 1820 census which has Catherine as head of household there are 2 males under 10 which one could be Benoni who would have about 8 yrs old. Anothher reasons for the parentage assumption is that names in Thos. and Catherine's family have been carried down in the Benoni and one of his sons's (Wm) families. Benoni Sroufe is found in census records from 1840 thru 1880 in OH and IA which are documented in the Larry A> Sroufe Family Tree on ancestry.com and rootsweb.com by this author---Janet G.
