Greg Vaut shares the following research: Faris (1999, pp. 314-315): "EDMUND GREY, Lord Grey of Ruthin, son and he ir, was born on 26 Oct. 1416. He fought in the wars in France, and succee ded his grandfather in the Barony of Grey of Ruthin on 30 Sep. 1440. He w as summoned to Parliament from 3 Dec. 1441 by writs directed Edmundo de G rey de Ruthin chivaler. He was married probably before 1440 to KATHERINE PERCY, daughter of Henry Percy, 2nd Earl of Northumberland (descendan t of King Edward Ill), by Alianor, daughter of Ralph Neville, 1st Earl o f Westmorland [see PERCY 9 for her ancestry]. She was born at Leconfiel d on 28 May 1423. At the battle of Northampton on 10 July 1460 he was i n command of the Royal vanguard, but went over to the Yorkists as the bat tle was joined, and is considered to have been the main cause of the Lanc astrian defeat. He was created Earl of Kent on 30 May 1465. EDMUND GREY , Earl of Kent, died aged seventy-three on 22 May 1490.
