a. Note:   nd in circles on a special circiut. They also rode en masse to Brighton. On the way back it poured with rain and one of the instructors had to stay with a couple of the group who were scared to ride in the rain. He had an accident in Bexley village where he dropped the bike but it skid along the road and hit the kerb, ending up righting itself. After the police worked for Campbell Gray a hire company. Then joined London Transport mainly driving the 51 into London from New Cross garage. He then worked in the London Transport Museum and had his photograph used in a book on pretend criminal cases. Moved to Lowestoft in the 1980's and continued to drive for first buses and continued after his retirement to drive a school bus. Only stopped when he got ill with stomach cancer, He died within a year of the first diagnosis. He was a spirit healer and took me with him on occasions while he healed people, went on rounds seeing same people who all told me how wonderful he was. Also told me he participated in an exorcism at Thamesmead. First job as a baker in Tenterdon where Tony was born. He used to love jam doughnuts and said he would stick extra jam in some when he was making them to eat himself, he could eat 10 in one sitting just stuffing them in his face as he worked! He was called up into the army and made a cook, he started out by making the usual food for the men, but after one occasion when he made cakes the officers got him to make good use of his talents and he began making pastries for them. When I was off school he would take me out in the car for his work. We would go around the country, in particular Tilbury Docks where he sat me on his lap and I 'drove' a forklift. We would sing songs in the car 'pink toothbrush, blue toothbrush' and 'theres a tiny house'.
Note:   Was in the police force riding motorbikes. They went out on Velocettes doing one day training where they learnt 'tricks' such as standing on saddle, but learnt to ride the bike by going round and rou
