Note: Shortly after settling on their homestead in Calder, Sask., tragedy struck; Kost accidentally drowned in the Assiniboine River. Kost had not yet built a poper house for his family and they were living in the side of a hill at the time of his demise. Tacia, now a young widow with five children, was in dire straights and happy to accept Demetro Olineck's offer to exchange her quarter section with one of his quarter sections that already had a house on it.
