Colonial grant of 50 acres, May 1669, doubtless for service in Pequot War (1637), Granted 200 acres, May 1681, for service to the Colony in or about Mattebeseck [Waterbury] (not laid out until 1716, and then assigned by James, son of Henry, to Benjamin Fairweather of Stratfield). Res. Hartford, but removed early to Stratford. His service at Mattebeseck prob. refers to a punitive expedition of 100 men sent out in Aug. 1639, as a sequel to the Pequot War. Married 4 Sept. 1649, Sarah, widow of Judah Gregory, and dau. of Henry Burt of Springfield. He was granted adm'n, 15 May 1650, on the "Estate of his wive's other husband." Will 11 July 1689, codicil 5 Apr. 1690, exhibited 8 Nov. 1690; wife Sarah; sons Deliverance, James, Jacob; daus. Patience and Abigail (single); to Thomas Lattin, five sheep; to Elizabeth Squire, a cow; to dau. Mary Stevens, a cow; to "Henry Sumers yt Lives with me besides what I have Given; A Cow."
