Coxsackie, 31 Aug. 1817 in 78th year. (Note: EZEKIEL and wife SUSANNAH confessed sin of fornication, 7 Oct. 1749, and 'owned ye covenant,' 3 Dec. 1749, the same day their first child was baptized.) EZEKIEL was appointed 2nd Lieut., 2nd Co. 1st. Reg., Mar. 1756 and 1st Lieut., Feb. 1757. During the Revolutionary War, from 14 May to 18 Dec. 1775, it was either he or his son, Ezekiel, Jr., who served as a Private in Capt. Clark's 6th Co., Gen. Putnam's 4th Reg., stationed at Cambridge, Middlesex, MA. Later, he was in the 6th Co., 3rd Reg. and may have re-enlisted, 16 Aug. 1776, in Capt. Hyde's Co., 1st Reg. of Militia under Col. Wolcott. He was prob. the EZEKIEL FITCH, Private, who served from 21 Sep. to 2 Nov. 1776 in Capt. Hyde's Co. in Maj. Ebenezer Backus' 4th CT Reg. with Gen. Washington in NY. According to RLF, EZEKIEL and Ezekiel, Jr. both served aboard the ship Oliver Cromwell during the Revolution. Ezekiel, Sr., received a disability for injuries received." Nathaniel3, Rev. James2, Thomas1) and SUSAN (HIGLEY) Fitch. She died in Cooperstown on July 23, 1816--Both are buried there, in Metcalf Hill Cemetery. NOTE: Capt. NATHANEIL FITCH, one of the early settlers of Lebanon, Conn. m. (1) Ann Abel of Norwich and (2) Mindwell (Hutchinson) Tisdale and had three sons by this second wife, one of whom was Ezekiel.
