Trumbull Cem., Lebanon. Nathaniel was the second of the three brothers who settled in Lebanon. He owned a grist mill and a fulling mill. The former is, of course, for grinding flour; the latter may be somewhat less familiar. After raw woll was combed, spun into yarn, and woven into cloth--usually in people's homes--the cloth was sent out to a fulling mill, where: ...it was subjected to a process of cleansing and thickening, or fulling.. In 1713, NATHANIEL was appointed Ensign in the 2nd Co, Lebanon militia, and was made Capt. of the Co. in 1713. He transferred to the South Co. in 1726. He was also a Deputy from Lebanon to the General Court in 1720. NATHANIEL, who outlived six of his children, left the bulk of his estate, including the gristmill, to MINDWELL. He mentioned in his will that he had already provided for most of his children with gifts of land and money, but he left the fulling mill to dau. Mehitabel, and various pieces of land to sons EZEKIEL and Isaac, as well as some of his grandchildren. Nathaniel was buried near his father in the old Lebanon cemetery. On either side of his gravestone are those of his wives, Ann and Mindwell." From: The Abell Family in America, by Horace A. Abell Bibliographic Info.: Abell, Horace A. The Abell Family in America.
