a. Note:   008). William Borden was born somewhere in New Hampshire on 31 Dec 1824, son of Silas Borden and Sarah Freeto. He emigrated to Missisquoi County as a child (probably 1834). After his marriage to Almira Fleming and the birth of Helen Louise and Maland Alonzo they settled in New York City and started a millwork business on West 29th St. Maland worked with his father. He married young but his first wife and child died in 1882. In 1887 he married Mary Ann Evans, dau of Thomas Evans and Ellen Buckley. They had three children. Maland died 26 July 1893 in New York City, age 36. 1. Grace E. Borden b. Aug 1888 (no issue) 2. Ellen Buckley Borden b. 18 July 1890 m. William died in Bedford, Missisquoi Cty, on 19 Nov 1903. There were other Flemings who came to New York to work with William Borden. Louisa O. and her husband, Wm. S. Rogers, and Chester Fleming. Louisa died 5 Mar 1920 in the Bronx, Chester died18 Nov 1902 in New York. John H. Fleming, as you know , married Laura Borden, William's cousin., and Sarah married Peter Westover. To make matters worse, Helen Louise Borden's daughter Myra Gifford, married Eugene Fleming, son of Chester!! That's all for today. I can document all of this if you would like.
