Birth: Jul. 9, 1819 East Andover Merrimack County New Hampshire, USA Death: Feb. 9, 1885 Whitefield Coos County New Hampshire, USA Franklin, second son and child of John and Abigail (Emery) Scribner, was born July 9. 1819 at Andover. He moved to Ashland, and with his elder brother Ambrose began the manufacture of shoes for a Massachusetts firm. He afterward sold out his interest, and with his brother Lewis built a paper mill. They manufactured manila paper and straw board for many years. In 1880 he was elected treasurer of the Ashland Savings Bank. On May 20, 1855, he married Marcia E. Hackett, daughter of Chase T and Susan Hackett, of New Hampton, where she was born July 6, 1833. Franklin died February 9, 1885, at Whitefield, and his widow died December 3, 1889, in South Framingham, MA. Carrie Adelaide and George Edwin are to be found on this page. The other child not shown is Ida Grace who was born in Ashland February 16, 1858. She married Judge William Bainbridge Fellows on November 1, 1881 and they resided in Tilton. They had three children. Ida died January 14, 1909. William married 2nd Clara Douglas Merriman on August 24, 1909. He is the son of Enoch Quimby and Mary E (Fellows) Fellows from Sandwich, NH. In v2, 1920 on p270 of the Granite Monthly there is an extended necrology of William that is very interesting.
