Note: Sent to me from a volunteer. "New Lisbon - Mrs. Minnie Strait, aged 94, died at the home of her son, Garlan Strait at Selkirk, Friday, December 8. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 p. m. from Lewis Funeral Home, Oneonta. The Rev. George Thompson of the Main Street Baptist church officiated. Burial will be in Plains Cemetery. She was born September 24, 1867, in the town of Laurens. Her parents were Edwin and Helen (Utter) Gile. She married John VanWoert, who died several years ago. Later she married Edwin Strait of Laurens. He died in 1929. Surviving are two sons, Garlan, with whom she has lived for the past few years when failing health compelled her to give up her home near West Oneonta and Harold Strait of Walton, two daughters, Mrs. Helen Anderson, New York and Mrs. Ida Hillsinger of Mechanicville; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; a brother, Leon Gile of West Oneonta.
