a. Note:   t. 12/12/09. Ella A. Knowlton was born Jan 4, 1851, in Bethany, Genesee Co., NY, to David Batcheller Knowlton and Harriet L. Hamilton (who are buried in the Maple Lawn Cemetery there). She married John A. Adams on Dec 28, 1869. I have not located them on the 1870 census, but in 1880 they are in Battlecreek, Calhoun Co., MI, with no children. On the 1900 census, John has been married to a Grace A. for 12 years, yet his oldest son, Howard K[nowlton?] is listed as age 14. Grace tried to give her number of children born and living as 3, but someone has changed it to 4. I assume Ella (never heard Emmaline before) died in childbirth with Howard. I hope to have David and Harriet's family up in Worldconnect shortly. 12/2009 Also on 12/12/09 [email protected] Barbara Poole <[email protected]> Sat, Dec 12, 2009 at 6:26 PM Barbara, I am afraid this will be terribly disappointing to you, but in my research on Abraham Knowlton's (born 1750) descendants, I used only standard records to prepare data on John Adams. I did not concern myself with his parentage, only with his date and place of birth, his marriage, and his occupations. He appears in Charles Stocking's HISTORY OF THE KNOWLTONS . . . . (1897) as the man Ella Knowlton married with their wedding date. All other information came from the 1880 and 1900 censuses. Thank you for his middle name though. The Knowlton family migrated from Worcester Co, MA, to Genesee Co, NY; sometimes migration patterns are useful to research. If you give me his death date and place, I will used them in my research with either you or your source as my source. Elizabeth W. Knowlton
