a. Note:   from Dave Rumery) OBITUARY Mrs. John Farmer "Mrs. Mary Farmer, widow of the late John Farmer, formerly of Van Buren street, this city, passed away last night at her home in West Leroy. Mrs. Farmer was well known in this city. Her husband was connected with Nichols & Shepard for many years. She is the mother of Mrs. Yates Adams of Ann Arbor. The funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock to-morning in the West Leroy church. The remains will be then brought to Battle Creek, and prayer services will be held at Oak Hill cemetery at 2 o'clock in the afternoon." Note: she was the step-mother of Mrs. Yates Adams (Sara Belle Farmer), who was 10 years old when her father remarried. David Rumery made trip to cemetery, April 2001, and provided photos of marker. Cemetery marker states born February 18, 1843.
