a. Note:   Mary Stephenson <> to Barbara Poole <> Sat, Mar 13, 2010 at 1:07 PM Barbara, Yes, I'm still doing genealogy. As my sister-in-law told me when I started, it's addictive! I just uploaded my tree to Rootsweb, it's 4ma4f (stands for 4mothers and 4fathers). I then saw I hadn't keep my gedcom up to date so am changing that. I also have a tree Lay/Keplinger/Siemiller/Pratt on that is more current. The main thing I've changed on the Lay line is that my brother found Mary Turner's (wife of Benjamin Lay) father's & siblings names. Still haven't found who her mother was. I was somewhat proud of myself since I had suggested the same people based on the limited census info available back then. My brother did the leg work to confirm it. I didn't watch the show but hope it increases interest in genealogy. Are you interested in DNA testing for genealogy? There is now a way to match up with cousins thru DNA. I tested with 23andMe. Found a Lay cousin that descends from Daniel & Anna Bull Lay. If you are interested let me know. There is a special reduced price thru the end of March. FamilytreeDNA is also starting the same thing. Either delete our names or put in living for the name. I think you're right about the flaw in Rootsweb letting those names show. Conversely it's rather humorous to find an ancestor from 100+ years ago listed as living. If that were true it would make this genealogy work so much easier. Good to hear from you again, Mary is NOT responsible for the content of the GEDCOMs uploaded through the WorldConnect Program. The creator of each GEDCOM is solely responsible for its content.
